The Area

The Languedoc is the largest wine growing area in France and boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year. The Minervois sits in a valley bounded by the Black Mountains to the North and the Pyrenees to the South. The Village of Oupia is set below a large hill the Serre d’Oupia formed by glacial activity.

The Mediterranean beaches are a short 30 minute drive from the House.  The nearest beach at Narbonne Plage is a  long sandy gently sloping beach guarded with lifeguards with a plentiful supply of restaurants and shops

The Med coast is scattered with  picturesque fishing and holiday villages.  The fishing port of Sete between Beziers and Montpellier is the second largest in France.  There is a large selection of seafood restaurants and boats to hire in the harbour, although this remains a busy working port

Montpellier is a vibrant young University City with bold strong architecture and is the administrative capital of the Languedoc. The old town is filled with restaurants and bijoux shops. The image show the large open place de Opera surrounded by cafes and restaurants

The Medieval walled City of Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walled city (used as a setting for Robin Hood Prince of Thieves)  overlooks the new City. It contains hotels, restaurants, gift shops and museums
